Storyteller is a collaborative video work by Virginia Overton and Motoko Fukuyama. In February 2013, Fukuyama accompanied Overton to Lebanon, Tennessee with the mission of documenting Overton’s preparation for her solo exhibition at Michelle-Innes & Nash gallery in NYC. The video piece was originally intended to be projected onto the surface of New Museum in NYC as a part of Change of State 2013 curated and produced by Nuit Blanche New York. The exhibition has been postponed due to the restriction on the usage of texts set by the city of New York. The work has been shown as a part of Overton’s solo exhibit at Kunsthalle Bern in August 2013 and in the group show “infinitude” at Roberts & Tilton Los Angeles, CA in June 2014.
Through the end of 2013 to Summer 2014, Fukuyama has also documented Overton’s creation of 500ft brass tube sculpture for an exhibition at Storm King Art Center; Outlooks curated by Nora Lawrence. The documentary video was played at the indoor gallery at Storm King Art Center and The Gallery at Ace Hotel New York during the exhibition.
